Chinantla vanilla, the original vanilla?
- This region of Mexico is the only one in the world where this orchid is pollinated naturally, by bees and hummingbirds. It is also, in fact, the area with the greatest genetic diversity of the species.
- Arturo collects and prepares vanillas from all over the valley, where they almost disappeared under the pressure of the agro-industry. Fortunately, his father, an anthropologist, has been committed to preserving Chinanteca culture and associated know-how since the 1980s.
